Monthly Meow: December 2019, Pt. 2
Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year from Curious Cat Books!
As I sit and reflect on this year's success, I am overwhelmed. I've met so many wonderful authors and aspiring writers, done so many book signings and produced so many paperbacks that if I ponder too long, my head may explode! But, I've loved every single second.
Success is relative and we all have a different opinion of the criteria we have to meet in order to achieve our goals and dreams. 2019 has been successful, definitely, for all of us at Curious Cat Books. I am super proud of all my hard-working authors. So proud, in fact, that I created the below celebration video to capture all their reactions this year, and to invite new authors to join us in 2020.
Submissions will open for members of the site on January 1st and everyone else on the 14th January 2020. If you have a book you'd like to publish and you think I'll like it, go ahead and send me an email! :) Submission guidelines can be found here.
So, let's check out what the second half of December held for us!
The Terrific Trip of Douglas Drip!
A HUGE congratulations to debut children's author Carol Mace on the release of her first Curious Cat Books paperback. This brilliantly colourful book teaches children about the weather cycle, and was released on December 22nd 2019. The book has been published as a 10x8" glossy paperback and a Kindle e-book.
After seeing the final version of the book, Carol was excited to sign her very first EVER paperback book as an author. You can see this special moment in a video below.
Whilst lots of retailers have already listed the book as available for purchase, due to the Christmas period, a few are yet to offer it. If your favourite retailer hasn't yet listed the availability, please allow an extra week or two.
Well done, Carol. You have worked so hard this year, and we all hope you have enjoyed a relaxing Christmas celebration!

This time two years ago...
OK, so let's go back in time.
My Facebook feed reminded me that two years ago in December, I read Noah Finn & the Art of Suicide aloud to the public for the first time EVER... AND in front of Bradford's Lord Mayor!
Ooh, I was so scared, but it was also an exciting and memorable experience.
If you're setting resolutions this New Year, I'd like to invite you to set some goals of your own and do your utmost to achieve them because I know you can. I never imagined that the Lord Mayor of Bradford would attend one of my little book signing events, but one of my resolutions that year was to be braver... I'm living proof that your hard work will pay off.
I wish you all the best of success this year. Let me know what your resolutions are in the comments below.
Calling all reviewers...
This time last year, I gently reminded my readers how important reviews are to indie authors.
As I now represent a bunch of them, I'm asking that your gift to your favourite authors this year is to leave them an honest review on the platform of your choice.
Feedback really does help us not only to sell more books, but to learn what our readers want, need and think. It helps us to create the books we know our readers will love.
If you purchased one of our books this year, no matter your opinion (positive and negative), please consider leaving a quick review or star rating on your next cuppa break.
Thank you and Merry Christmas from all of us here at Curious Cat Books.
That's it for Pt.2—see you in 2020! Rachael x
